Health and English (as a Second Language) Literacy Program

ESL Mapping in Genesee County
This is a project I completed with an undergraduate research assistant, funded by EDA at UM-Flint's University Outreach. We want to develop an ESL navigation tool for the residents of Flint and Genesee County to help them find the resources that are right for them.
Needs Analysis Research with Immigrants and International Students in Genesee County.
The needs analysis findings have been used to make the case for the International Center of Greater Flint's resource development. It also shows there is need for more ESL and language resources in our community. Research in action!
English Language Teaching Journal Article
The ELT Journal has just published an article co-authored by me and Toko Oshio. The article is called "Conducting a Community-Based ESOL Programme Needs Analysis" and it describes the process of doing a community-wide needs analysis with community members and immigrants.
Growing Pains and Course Correction
Published in the Special Issue of Across the Disciplines, this co-authored article with Jacob Blumner discusses the development of UM-Flint's Bridge Program.
